so as most people know when SA became a democracy and they were handing out basic human rights to everyone, us homos got some basic ones too, in other words we are constitutionally protected in terms of discrimination and the like.
however while doing research for my thesis, I came across a pretty interesting excerpt from an article which read somewhere along the lines of “great, the constitution protects me, but how is it going to protect me out there on the streets?”
this got me thinking about how do we actually protect ourselves from hate crimes on the streets? at this point i figure that the constitution is a pretty hefty piece of literature so it might actually make a decent weapon on its own…. any other ideas out there??
